Sidhbali Mandir Kotdwara
The famous Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple, home to a unique Shivalinga and a Kund (a tiny pond) known as Gauri Kund, can be found 39 kilometres from Lansdowne. The ritual of bathing in Gauri Kund before visiting the temple is a long-standing tradition. Located 24 and 47 kilometres distant on the Pauri-Kotdwar route are the equally revered Durga Devi Temple & Jwalpa Devi temples. One of the earliest Siddha Pithas in India, the Durga Devi Temple has been around for a very long time.
The famous Kanvashram is around 14 kilometres from the Kotdwar train station. According to legend, Bharata was born to Shakuntala in the ancient Indian ashram of Rishi Kanva, after she had been abandoned by King Dushyanta. After Bharata's father died, he became king, and Sanskrit gave India the name Bharat.

There is a lovely mountain range and the gushing waters of the Khoh River all around the temple. A landslip many years ago caused significant damage to the temple, including the destruction of roughly a third of its structure. Its extraordinary survival bolstered the locals' faith. As the symbol of the city, it now dominates the skyline. They say Hanumanji carried the weight of the temple upon his shoulders.
History
People from the Nath group, who are known as Sidh or Saints, believe that Guru Gorakhnath and his students meditated here for a very long time. As a result, several saints began making the journey here to pray and reflect. Baba Sitaram Bhai, Baba Narayan Das Bhai, Baba Gopal Ji, the saint Sevadas Ji, and Falahari baba ji, to name a few, all meditated here for extended periods of time.
Saint Sidhwa, a holy man who lived in the area about the 14th century and is revered as a Sidh today, is said to have meditated at this temple.

How Important is Kotdwar?
Kotdwar emergence as a commercial hub happened during the last several decades. Up to the year 1953 A.D., however, the area was only a little market and not at all developed. Dogadda was the most important commercial hub. Major transformations, including improved rail access, did not occur until 1953. Due to a significant movement among business factions, several businesspeople relocated their operations from Dugadda to Kotdwar. This marked the beginning of Kotdwar meteoric growth, and the city quickly established itself as a major hub for trade and business. Kotdwar has excellent transportation links to other Indian towns and cities by train and road.
